A Perfect Day by Richard Paul Evans

Robert Harlan is married with a daughter.  He works for a small radio station as a sales rep, but he gets laid off.  Now he doesn't know what to do but has always wanted to write. They live in Salt Lake City.

Before they are married his wife's father calls her to come to Oregon and visit and have one last Perfect Day.  They have always been very close as her mother had died when she was young, so she wanted to go.  However, the Perfect Day ended with him telling her that he
was dying.  Three months later the end was near and she went to him again.  This time
Robert goes to be with them when her father passed away.

After he was laid off he talked with Allyson and she said she would go back to work and he should start and finish the novel he had always wanted to write.  The novel turns out
to be about her Perfect Day with her father and how close they were.  The novel is a great success.  Then the struggles begin as he has to go on book tours and is away so much
that their marriage suffers.  He enjoys the tours, but does miss his family.  However,
Allyson doesn't want to live that way and they separate.

He struggles with the tour and his agent and other entourage, and misses his family.
This part of the novel is the real story.  Do they get back together or does he write the
next book he is scheduled to do?  Another love story by Richard Paul Evans.
