A Man Called Peter

A Man Called Peter by Catherine Marshall

This is a true story of Peter Marshall.  Peter was born and raised in Scotland.
One night walking home through the woods he heard something, he stopped and
asked who was there.  Then the voice came again and gave Peter some instructions for his life.

He came to America where he worked hard at manual labor waiting for more
instructions, and when they came he knew God wanted him to be a minister.
He went to school and became an ordained Protestant minister.   He took a
position with a small church in the South, and enthalled the congregation and
a beautiful young lady named Catherine.  Catherine fell in love long before Peter
really noticed her.  However, he finally did and they married.

He served in another church, and then was called to preach in The Church of The
Presidents in Washington, DC.  The congregation was small when he went there
but soon they were standing on the street listening over loud speakers.  He
connected with the young people and worked with them as this was the beginning of World War II.  The older generation wasn't too happy but he won them over.
Then he was asked to be the Chaplain of the United States Senate.

This is, also, the story of Peter, Catherine and their son's life and some hard times they had to live through.

Catherine Marshall has written many other books, but for me this was the best.
